Note for anytime I use “B.T.S:” the abbreviation stands for Behind the Scenes and not the K-Pop band (though I do love their music). When I came up with the title, my little sister thought I’d made a fan site, so here’s your official clarification!
Who I am:
You can call me Maya- not my real name, but it’s the one I use when I’m buying a coffee because, apparently, my real name confuses baristas. *insert crying emoji*.
I’m a homeschooled A-Level student who spends most of her week either studying, tutoring online, or asking customers, “Would you like anything else with that?” at my part-time café job. Between lessons, latte foam, and lesson planning, I decided to create a small corner of the internet where I can share the parts of life that happen behind the scenes — the quiet, chaotic, wonderful bits that unravel in my free time.
I take History, Literature, and Philosophy for my A-Levels, and I’m currently manifesting a future in law reform (cue frequent academic breakdowns). When I’m not reading or writing essays, you’ll find me rambling about books, scribbling poems, singing, or falling down rabbit holes of random debates.
My family are movies-over-books people (yes, it’s tragic), so I rarely have anyone to talk to about the stories I love- and you can probably guess they’re not lining up to read my own writing either. I’m also a coeliac in a pastry- anything gluten-loving household…the struggle never ends.
Hence, this blog — a space to overanalyse novels, share gluten-free meals (100% lazy student certified), post the occasional poem, and talk about all the small things that make the working person’s life both exhausting and magical.
What you’ll find here:
- Book Rambles (formally known as book reviews): Honest, critical, occasionally unhinged reflections on what i’m reading.
- Fuel and Flow: Low-effort meals and hacks for those days you don’t want to even pour a glass of juice + snippets of my productivity balance, routines, tips, and random life bits.
- Spilled Ink: Where I unleash my own work: poems or any other creative writing that I’d love to hear your thoughts on.
If you’re a student, a fellow overthinker, or just someone who enjoys a little behind-the-scenes peek into another person’s brain, I hope you’ll find something here that makes you smile, think, or relate.
PS: If there’s anything else you think I might enjoy (and then inevitably post blog about) please feel free to email me your suggestions.
Ta-ta!
